Are the Google new updates causing censorship?
This year's Pubcon event in Las Vegas lived up to it's promise. Google timed three updates of their search algorithm just prior to the conference, and Matt Cutts explained the justification for each update, and also announced "Link Disavow."
I now expect the next Penguin Update to arrive in early October, 2012. It has been about six weeks since Matt Cutts stunned the SEO World with his comments about "jarring" and "jolting" Penguin updates.
The SEO World waits with bated breath as Google readies the launch of the next Penguin Update.

Are search results being "censored" from the SERPS?
Google quietly pushed out a Panda Update a few days ago. The change is expected to impact 1.1% of search results. With Penguin, Panda, and the other algo updates hitting 1% or so of SERPS each update (which now appears to be monthly), there are many websites "removed." With updates as frequent as this, the SERPS are extremely varied compared to even a few months ago. I think this new mindset at Google is bringing to light the difficulty of ethically maintaining many sites which comport with G's guidelines for quality and suitable SEO.
Google has certainly modified the landscape of "search." The future of search results will depend on a presenting a substantial "physical footprint" which signals to Google that your business truly exists. Much SEO focus these days has shifted to trustworthy online directories and other local listings which corroborate the validity of your business profile.
A Penguin Refresh noted on Matt Cutts tweet last Friday confirms my earlier predictions. It is going to be a interesting event at Pubcon 2012 Las Vegas next week where Mr. Cutts will likely explain the Google "improvements" at Tuesday's lunchtime session at the South Conference Hall.
Presentation is important, having a standard interface without developing logos and an identity of your own may turn potential customers off. SERPS isn't of major importance for directories but being listed in directory lists and other directories is. Maintain quality listings from the very beginning, adjust titles and descriptions when necessary, add a couple of quality listings of your own daily to have content in each category. Add descriptions to each category as you get a listing or preferably before - original content will get the category indexed.
